i just wanted to post a gushing thank-yew for your _NetChick_ book. originally once of those eye-catchers on the shelf at the store, this book has changed my life. after devouring all the juicy bits on fetish fashion, interviews with other NetChicks, and finding out that *it's not as hard as it looks* to do it yourself (all to the tune of the _Tank Girl_ soundtrack), i called up a friend halfway across the country, and i dare say we have begun the process of creating a web page, or (gasp) an ezine of our own, very likely dedicated to all that is cool and about cool chicks with a sex-positive outlook on life. 'course, everything's still in the theoretical stage, but i've even gone so far as to buy my own HTML programming book. whowouldathunk? dare i say i feel...empowered?
anyhow, thanks ever so. your book is truly an inspirational volume, and i shall proceed to recommend it to all the chicks i know.
off to surf the net,
rebekah f, c/o her dad's account (aol sucks!)
I am really sorry that TOUPSIES don't come in six-packs because you site is FABULOUS! Your graphics are great! Ever want to be a Ms. BABE-O-RAMA for a month? I would love the TOUPSIE fans to check out your site in massive volumes!
Have A Happy New Year, Carla! And if you drink and drive, use a 5-Iron.
Cheers,
TOUPSIE
I must say...you rock!!! i just got your book. the thing's amazing, grrlie! i mean it... i just wanted to congratulate you on a job well done.
***WILD APPLAUSE***
No really. i loved your book and plan to tell all my chick friends (yes and some of the guys too- but only those worthy to enter the domain of the magic 8 bra) about all your neat little goodies. promise. I liked it that much. I mean everything, up until recently, that I knew about the web was from my dad (he's a big computer shmuck up here in seattle- or so he would have me believe) or from exploring. I don't mean to make your book out to be a miracle or anything (sorry), but it sure was an ENORMOUS help and a step foreward for the femme gen. So go ahead and give yourself a big hug. or get someone else to. either way, you earned it.
please excuse any spelling or grammar mistakes. I'm a profound insomniac and am feeling quite fatigued... As sincerely as I can be when I feel like I just drank a bottle of NyQuil and am yawning like crazy,
Katie
P.S. my friend, ryan, says hi. he's sleeping over. he's a superbabe!!! no really. he's a really big geek. L8R!
The Net Chick site is so cool! Carla, wait until I post one of *my* embarassing events to the site. I won't be able to show my ASCII around the Net for years... : ) And your pictures are really cute too... (Awwwwwwwwwww...)
luv,
pesco
How do you do. I enjoyed your page very much. How fine! Your homepage design is coolest that I have ever seen.
I am an ex-WIRED JAPAN editor and now freelance journalist about cyber culture. I love Cyborganic people and their ideas and I wish to make a similar cyber-community in Japan too.
Thank you for your enjoyable page and giving me a kindly advice for my private life!! (I tried magic eight bra consultation!)

this may keep me from being too sad that I won't keep getting bOING bOING in my mailbox every so often...
beautiful dreams..

It's a refreshingly different view into the internet! I hope it sells very well. The two of us happen to be programmers (she's at Autodesk, I'm at AOL), and we have a 20 year old sister who's just getting familiar with the Wild Wild Web. This will definitely be one of her christmas presents. Thanks for writing this, it was a huge area that had gone pretty much unaddressed - the more WebGrrrl pages out there, the better!
Daniel
finally!....ya know what i mean?
rather thin coverage of irc tho.
i liked your how-to's for people to set up their own homepages. rating my own page by your criteria, i lose on the graphics and links but perhaps make up for it in the autobio secrets department - it balances out.

off to savor the betty page webstuff,

You have one of the best [if not the best] personal web sites around. Check out mine at: http://users.aol.com/johnmarkt/

I just bought a copy of Net Chick last night and perused it. Tonight I'll dive deep into it.
I also enjoyed the Cyberpunk Handbook and the Happy Mutant Handbook, and the one issue of bOING bOING I happened to find in one of the bookstores I frequent.
I enjoy your writing!
Graham
I feel like I know you, because I read ALL your stuff. I recently acquired you Net Chick book, needless to say I really like it. I have enjoyed BB for quite some time (a little over a year), and just laughed all the way through the Happy Mutant Handbook. It was very well done. Nice job.
I have been a modem grrrl since I was 9 years old. I have 6 older brothers and 2 sisters. I am the baby! Therefore, I get everything (yeah, right), but I did get a computer with a modem at a young, ripe age. I have been a modem chick for a long time. Blah Blah Blah. I just really wanted to tell you that I like your web site as well. I hope to have one up soon. Currently, I can only access the web through work (which means I work about 40% of the time that I am here, the rest I spend surfing!!!).
Well, I am tired of blowing smoke up your butt, so... Have fun, good job on the zine and the web...see ya
nora
but you have an excellent www site!

But why $20?? C'mon, it's not even hardback! Some of us geekboys are poor. Fortunately, I'm writing this message via a government computer tied to an 800 number, paid for by the taxes you'll owe on book profits. Ha, ha, ha.
I would imagine your email is clogged with gushy lovenotes about your book, but, nevertheless, I RAN to my modem to tell you how much I enjoyed your book. I too, have had numerous experiences with xy-ers about the supposed dearth of xx-ers in this medium. I am pleased, proud and excited to read what you have written and know that I am a part of such august company.
Many and sincere thanks,
Elspeth Fahey

(and I'm not just saying this because of the great plug you've given Cybergrrl)...
Thanks for the great coverage and wonderful women's resource. So much cooler than the other women online book out there. Stay tuned for the Cybergrrl Guide!

Thanks for listing my home page in your "Net Chicks" book! My name is spelled wrong in the index but it's right on the listing.
The book is really fabulous and I wish you great success with it!

via SUCK today and just wanted to tell you that I LOVE your site. The Magic 8 bra is great as well as the paper doll dress up game. This is one site I really enjoyed and actually devoted a few extra minutes to hang out in and even drop you a bit of feedback...Good luck. I'll buy the books.
Scott
I need more time to look at it. I haven't updated my own page in quite a while- and I am feeling inspired! Thanks! I'll be back soon!

T'were that all disembodied bits of electrons could be so embodied!

I just got a copy of your book "Net Chick" and I think its great. It gives a good list of the really interesting sites. I also enjoyed your chick's point of veiw of the Internet/WWW, etc.
I thought it would be too Feminist, but I was wrong. I think guys will enjoy it as well. Since I am new to the WWW it has saved me lots of time in finding great sites...
Good Luck with the book sales.
Cyberly yours;
Tom
I bought your book and have become the mouse potato diva... I love your website and playing with your toys...when are you going to open up the beauty parlor and chick chat? I want to talk to other chicks as fun and brilliant as you are!! ... yes I am a newbie, but hopefully with the support of other net chicks like you, I won't be for long!!
Just call me Hels.
