Hello all of you out there in teevee land. This is the only channel you'll pick up in the Net Chick clubhouse, and it's all about me, me, ME!
So who is this pontificating maven, you ask?
I'm Carla Sinclair, authoress of Net Chick, cap'n of the Clubhouse, editor of bOING bOING and The Happy Mutant Handbook, frequent contributor to Wired magazine, and longtime member of the Well .
When I was a chickette (born and raised in the Hollywood area, by the by) I wasn't really into dolls and Barbie (although I did love the plastic smell of the inside of Barbie's pink wardrobe box). In fact, I preferred playing with nrrrd toys like Lite Brite and Mad Libs (I was good friends with one of the Mad Lib inventors, Roger Price, FYI, and we used to play Scrabble together all the time.) And I especially loved reading, including stuff by Judy Blume, and Nancy Drew books. That was before tough grrrl heroines like Tank Girl were around! If only!
As far as TV goes, the Clubhouse channel didn't exist when I was little, so I resorted to grrrly stuff like The Bionic Woman, and Wonder Woman. Now that I'm past the elementary stage (at least age-wise), I get most of my pop culture fix from the Net. I'm currently into geekgirl, Urban Desires, and even The Spot (being a Melrose fan and all).
I have a corset that was tailor-made for me in San Francisco last year, from this cool place called Dark Gardens, run by 4 sexy women who wear corsets all the time. My friend, Jessica Wing told me about the place. When I first put it on for the evening it feels good - really snug and even sensuous. But if I wear it too long - like maybe more than 2 hours - it suddenly becomes annoying, and I desperately want to rip it off.
Well, that's all you're going to hear about me for now. If you want to get more personal, you'll have better luck snooping through my diary (in the rumpus room!).
